| Descripción | In 2018, the Irish Department of Children and Youth Affairs incurred expenditure totalling €410 million in relation to early learning and childcare programmes. The programmes are administered by Pobal. This report identifies issues in relation to the Department’s oversight of Pobal and makes a number of recommendations in that regard. Pobal does not have a reliable estimate of the level of overclaims arising on individual schemes. The report made a number of recommendations in relation to selection of service providers for compliance visits and sharing of data on inspections between the separate entities (Pobal, Tusla and the Department of Education and Skills) that have responsibility for compliance and inspection of different aspects of early learning and childcare provision. |
