| Description | The Federal Ministry of Defence and Sports organised the project “AirPower 2013”, an air show presenting Austria’s air force, without the necessary approval as stipulated by the Styrian Events Act 2012 (Steiermärkisches Veranstaltungsgesetz). The responsible stakeholders failed to carry out an evaluation of AirPower 2013 with regard to its benefit for the Austrian Armed Forces, in particular against the background of the overall costs of some EUR 11.685 million. A cost-benefit analysis on the frequency of the show was lacking. The province of Styria funded AirPower 2013 with an amount of EUR 800,000 without meeting the legal requirements laid down in the Constitutional Finance Law 1948. The funds provided by the province of Styria lacked both concrete objectives and an evaluation of their impact. |
