Comments | The Supreme Audit Office focused on how and how much the Czech Statistical Office (CSO), the Czech Telecommunication Office (CTO), and the General Directorate of Customs (GDC) spent on office supplies, consulting, advisory, and legal services, on training and translation services. Auditors also checked other expenses - such as cleaning and surveillance of buildings or fleet repair and maintenance. The audit covered the years 2010 - 2012 and auditors scrutinized expenses in a total of CZK 161.5 million. Auditors found out that CTO spent on office supplies per employee almost three times more than GDC. When auditing expenditure on staff training and education, auditors found out that the CTO spent nearly 12 times more than GDC per employee per year and more than triple of that than CSO. Auditors also scrutinized expenditure on maintenance and operation of the fleet of the audited institutions. They found out that GDC and CSO rented cars in the audited years and proved that renting cars was not economic for the CSO. For legal, advisory, and consulting services CTO paid by CZK 34.5 million more in 2012 than in 2010 which represented an increase in 470%. For this huge increase, consulting services on projects co-financed from the European funds were responsible. |
