Participation of EUROSAI Goal Team 1 on Capacity Building at the 44th EUROSAI Governing Board Meeting

On behalf of EUROSAI Goal Team 1 on Capacity Building the State Audit Office (SAO) of Hungary is participating at the 44th EUROSAI Governing Board meeting as observer. The SAO reported on the activities of EUROSAI Goal Team 1 on Capacity Building and the Monitoring Committee for setting up and operating the Electronic Database on Good Practices. In order to make the work of the Governing Board more effective, the discussion strategic issues have a crucial role at the 1.5 day meeting beside reporting the work done in EUROSAI. The SAO was represented by President László Domokos and Péter Dankó, Head of Department.

The continuity of the operation of EUROSAI between the triennial Congresses is ensured by the EUROSAI Governing Board. The tasks of the Governing Board include the adoption of the decisions necessary for the functioning of EUROSAI, in accordance with the guidelines established by the Congress. 

The State Audit Office of Hungary has been responsible for leading Goal Team 1 on Capacity Building – aimed at supporting the relevant objective of the EUROSAI Strategic Plan 2011-2017 – since the IX EUROSAI Congress held in 2014. During the presentation of the report on the Goal Team activities in 2015 on the first day of the meeting the SAO representative highlighted the innovative products and solutions of the Goal Team. The SAO continues to strive to ensure that most of the activities have a tangible result or product, thus the knowledge accumulated by the Goal Team can be better shared with the wider EUROSAI Community. The Goal Team members also contributed to strategic planning process by formulating recommendations concerning the new EUROSAI Strategic Plan covering the period between 2017 and 2023.

Besides the reports of the EUROSAI Goal Teams and Working Groups, the members of the Governing Board were discussing a number of strategic questions on the second day of the meeting. Among other issues, decision will be made regarding the concept of the independent evaluation of the governance and modus operandi of EUROSAI and the base for the new EUROSAI strategy between 2017-2023.
