EUROSAI participation in the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee meeting in Peru.

The INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee held its annual meeting in Lima, Peru on 9-11 September 2014. On behalf of EUROSAI, Mr Péter Dankó (State Audit Office of Hungary) participated in the meeting.
The mission of the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee is to implement Goal 2 of INTOSAI’s Strategic Plan, which focuses on corporate capacity building activities relevant to the member SAIs of INTOSAI. South Africa took over the chair of the Committee from Morocco in 2013. The SAI of Sweden is the vice-chair of the Committee.
At the XXI Congress of INTOSAI (held in Beijing, 2013), the Committee, which was established in 2005, was given the mandate to reform its activities and improve their efficiency. At the annual meeting of the Committee, held in Lima, the Committee members discussed and approved the concept paper on strategic development actions of the period 2014-2016. This strategic document focuses on the communication of values, the establishment of solid relationships with partners internal and external to the Committee, and also communication. The participants of the meeting agreed, inter alia, on the points that the Committee should be the driving force of capacity building and the repository of related knowledge within the INTOSAI community, it should be as active as possible in searching partners for capacity building activities, and strengthen cooperation and knowledge sharing with other committees and the regional organisations of INTOSAI.
At the IX EUROSAI Congress, held in The Hague in June 2014, the State Audit Office of Hungary (SAO) took over the chair of the EUROSAI Capacity Building Goal Team (EUROSAI Goal Team 1). Accordingly, the General Secretariat of EUROSAI officially requested the SAO as the chair of the EUROSAI Capacity Building Goal Team to represent EUROSAI at the annual meeting of the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee.
At the annual CBC meeting Péter Dankó presented the EUROSAI region, providing an essential overview of the activities, the EUROSAI Strategic Plan, the main points, messages of the recently held IX EUROSAI Congress, and the results achieved by the EUROSAI Capacity Building Goal Team.
