EUROSAI Project Group on “Collaboration with national-level UN Agencies in the context of SAIs’ SDG-related Audit Processes” output available

8 juin 2023

Dear EUROSAI members!

EUROSAI Project Group on “Collaboration with national-level UN Agencies in the context of SAIs’ SDG-related Audit Processes” led by the Turkish Court of Accounts (TCA) has finalized its study and its main outputUN-SAI COUNTRY-LEVEL COLLABORATION ON SDG AUDITS: RECOMMENDATIONS FOR AUDITORS is now available for your consideration.

Having an understanding on the inter-connectedness of SDG implementation and SDG auditing and the criticality of the UN-SAI engagement, the output focuses on exploring new channels for the mutual exchange of expertise, experience, and knowledge with the UN Entities at country-level. In this regard, main lines of cooperation areas between the UN and SAIs in the SDG-related audit processes are defined and Possible Interaction Points (PIPs) are presented along with the sample SDG-related audit question sets in order to help create a mind-set for the involved auditor(s) and provide a useful starting point.

Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Türkiye (UN RCO) and United Nations Development Programme Türkiye Country Office (UNDP) acted as external partners in the PG. At the national context, negotiations were carried out between the TCA and the UN Entities in Türkiye throughout this Project and discussions were held at the Multi-stakeholder Consultation Workshop with the UN Entity representatives in June 2022. Furthermore, a short survey was applied among EUROSAI members to ensure the inclusiveness and create a room for different perspectives.

We consider it important to remind that the statements and suggestions in the output are the product of an efficient brainstorming carried out by experts in the field, that freethinking is always necessary to take innovative and relevant steps, and that every statement in this document is always open to discussion and development.

Taking this opportunity, we would like to thank all the colleagues and partner institutions for participating at the discussions, supporting to draft the output, responding to surveys as well as providing peer-review and sharing their experiences. We hope that this publication could be a great opportunity to continue our work and knowledge sharing.
