The EUROSAI TFAE has been awarded the I Awards Integrity in Public Management!

28 mars 2019

During the II Congress of Compliance in the Public Sector, held in Madrid on the 27 March 2019, the World Compliance Association and the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) delivered the I Awards Integrity in Public Management.

The I Awards Integrity in Public Management have two categories, individual and institutional, and their respective winners were announced during the abovementioned Congress.

The institutional distinction was awarded to the EUROSAI Task Force on Audit and Ethics (TFAE), as a distinguished initiative with a positive impact in the promotion of ethics and integrity in the public sector. The proposal for the prize was presented by an auditor of the audit body of Canarias, Luis Álvarez Arderius, and decided by a jury of professionals interested in the world of 'compliance'.

The jury awarded the TFAE for its character as a consolidated initiative which has generated -and is generating- a positive impact on the promotion of ethics and integrity in public management, as a result of its exemplary institutional leadership in the field of public auditing; as well as for the pedagogical and cooperative approach -both for the general public and for public organisations- that is reflected in all the information and documentation produced by the TFAE, which, as the jury stated, undoubtedly shows the continuous efforts of the Task Force to promote inter-institutional and inter-professional cooperation in the geographical area in which it operates in Europe.

Ms Helena Abreu Lopes, Member of the Court of Auditors of Portugal, representing its President, Mr Vítor Caldeira, as Chair of the TFAE, accepted the prize on behalf of all the Members of the TF. The Secretary General of EUROSAI, Ms María José de La Fuente, President of the Court of Audit of Spain, was invited to hand over the award.

Ms Lopes highlighted how this prize is a significant recognition of the work done by the TFAE and by its members in promoting an ethical culture in public sector organisations and a solid indicator of its impact.
