Governing Board
According to articles 10-12 of the Statutes the
Governing Board is composed of eight members (four members by right: the Heads
of the SAIs that hosted the last two ordinary sessions of the Congress, the Head
of the SAI that will host the next ordinary session of the Congress and the
Secretary General of EUROSAI; and four members elected by the Congress for a
period of six years, out of those ones, two members are elected every three
years) and observers.
Since the VI Congress of EUROSAI (Bonn, May/June 2005) the Governing Board is
formed by the Heads of the SAIs of Germany, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania,
Poland,Russian Federation, Spain and Switzerland as members; and of Austria, Hungary,
Norway, Portugal, and the United Kingdom as observers. In order to ensure
adequate representation of all members on the Governing Board, geographical
criteria and the different systems for auditing public sector audit accounts
both are taken into account in the election process to the Board. The Board
meets at least once a year. The last Governing Board met in Bern (Switzerland)
on 13 september 2007. The next meetings of the Governing Board will be
held in Krakow (Poland), on 2 and 5 June 2008.
The Governing Board shall have the following responsibilities:

To oversee the fulfilment of
the Statutes of the EUROSAI.

To adopt the decisions
necessary for the functioning of EUROSAI, in accordance with the guidelines
established by the Congress.

To adopt the draft budget and
to submit it to the Congress.

To draft directions for the
preparation and presentation of financial statements by the Secretariat and
for their audit by the Auditors.

To submit the accounts,
together with the Auditors' report and its own comments to the Congress for
approval.

To submit a report on EUROSAI
activities to each ordinary session of the Congress.

To fulfil any other duties
entrusted to them by the Congress.
The Governing Board is chaired by the President of EUROSAI, who represents
EUROSAI. Two Vice-presidents (since June 2005, SAI of Poland, First Vice-President
and SAI of Lithuania Second Vice-President ) support the President in the development of his/her
tasks. |
