New President of the Corte dei conti of the Italian Republic

Mr Angelo Buscema has been appointed President of the Corte dei conti by Decree of the President of the Republic on 29/12/2017, with effect from 31 December 2017.
He was born in Rome on 9 February 1952. He is married and has one son and one daughter.
Graduated in law in 1974 at the University of Perugia, Mr. Buscema completed his studies in Administrative Sciences in 1975 at “La Sapienza University of Rome”.
Enabled to practice the profession of lawyer since 1978; in 1981 he became Magistrate at the Corte dei conti, ranking at the first place in the relevant public competition.
During his career in the accounting magistracy, he has been charged with several institutional functions in the different areas of the Corte dei conti (jurisdiction, audit and high administration):
- He has been President for the Coordination of the United Chambers for Audit from 2014 to the appointment as President of the Corte dei conti.
- From 2005 to 2011 he was assigned the position, in additional way, of Magistrate Responsible for IT Systems of the Corte dei conti.
In the organizational profile, he has arranged the IT programs both for jurisdictional and audit activities, monitoring the major contracts and defining directives for the development of IT and telematic services.
- From 2011 to 2014 he has been charged as President of the Jurisdictional Chamber for Veneto.
He undertook a significant activity as Magistrate Delegated for the audit of Public Economic Entities, according to art. 12 of the law n. 259/1958, on high relevance and complexity entities to which the State contributes in an ordinary way (ENAV - Italian Air Navigation Services, ASI - Italian Space Agency, CRI - Italian Red Cross) and on normal relevance entities as CREA (Council for Agricultural Research and Economics) and CONSAP (Public Company for Insurance Services).
- From 2009 to 2012 he has been elected President of the Association of Magistrates of the Corte dei conti.
- Since 2015 he has been Member of the Regional Tax Tribunal for Latium.
In addition to the institutional duties, he has always carried out teaching and study activities; he has lectured and directed courses in legal and economic issues at Universities and at Schools of high professional training.
He is the author of several volumes for important publishers and of many articles in specialized magazines on public accounting and administrative law.
